K. P. A. C. Lalitha, a veteran of Malayalam theatre and cinema, died on February 22, 2022, in Thrissur. She was 74.
Lalitha began in the K. P. A. C. troupe and went on to become one of Malayalam cinema's most dependable supporting actors. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress twice, for Santhwanam and Shantham.
Her work ranged from comedy to deeply restrained drama, and directors returned to her for roles that needed both authority and understatement. Her death prompted a wide outpouring of tributes from the industry.
